Do you have your plan in place for self-denial or sacrifice during this season of Lent? If not, let the United Methodist Women’s group make some suggestions. We have partnered with Ashley Carroll’s Be Someone NYC. As you probably know, this group provides for two villages in Tanzania. They are helping the village schools and are working on water supplies so the women and children do not have to walk up to ten hours in order to get water for their villages.
This volunteer group is within $1000.00 of being able to pay the contractor who is currently digging the dam to provide water locally for the villages. This group also encourages us to donate $18.00 per month to support a school child. $18.00 provides the education, housing, food, and protection for a child for a month. Many children live too far from the school, so they must board there.
You can save your coins during Lent and make a donation to Be Someone NYC. The bank account is housed under the church umbrella and UMW manages this. Therefore, any donation you make is now tax-deductible.
So…think of a way you can focus on these Tanzania villages during your Lenten season
And do not forget to do good and to share with others, for with such sacrifices God is pleased.
